Welcome to my blog!!!!

Welcome !!!

I hope that this can put into perspective a lot about heart disease. This subject has taken a toll on my life within the last year. June 4, 2011 was a day that changed my life forever.

First off, this blog is in dedication to one of the strongest and greatest woman that was part of my life for 23 years. She was my #1 fan, best friend, and my grandma. She passed away July 15th, 2011, but will forever be in my heart.

(R.I.P Grandma, Aug. 18, 1930 to July 15, 2011)

After my grandmother's passing it really hit me, that if I don't take care of myself I could go through everything she did. Bypass, clogged arteries, diabetes, and heart attacks. No thank you, so for my journey I want to connect with others and get Heart Disease Awareness known and out there since A LOT of women and EVEN men aren't educated.

This blog couldn't have started at a better time because next month is Heart Disease Awareness Month. February 3rd, is National Wear Red Day!!! I'll keep ya posted on that too.

I'll keep adding different things weekly and hopefully, well my goal is to post at least 2 times a week. That just depends on my work load that week for school.

Lastly, I'm considering doing a American Heart Association walk in May at Ford Field in Detroit, and would love to get some input about it. I'm considering a team in my grandma's honor and I want to do the work myself.

Till next time, have a great night.

P.S. Any questions you want to ask feel free, I'm pretty open on this subject. Also, any suggestions about the subject will help, it runs on both my mom and dad's side and would love to learn more about it!

  3. I love your dedication to your grandmother, it's beautiful. You mentioned doing the walk for the AHA and I wanted to say that I think it's a great way to be involved. My mother has formed a team and we do the Memory Walk for the Alz Association every year. You can really get into it if you have the time. I'm considering putting together a spaghetti dinner fundraiser this year. A lot of restaurants do fundraising nights that doesn't require anymore than handing out flyers and going out to dinner. Basically the donate 10, 20, 25% of all the tables who bring in the flyers. Hope some of this helps. Good Luck!

  4. Wow! Good to know about the dinner idea. I've never even began to think of that. I'm currently trying to think of fundraiser ideas for Utica FD for their new bike EMS team. Maybe I'll suggest this to them as well.
